When Roger Slater first started importing the Laverda 750, purchase tax would have been added to the retail cost of each complete machine. In order to reduce the retail price, machines were imported in two parts and advertised as a kit so that purchase tax would not be levied. How many were put together by Slaters anyway? Who knows????
